Airlines and cabins to Tokyo
ANA and Japan Airlines fly some of the most praised business cabins anywhere — enclosed suites on newer aircraft, kaiseki-style meal services, famously precise crews. From Europe, the one-stop field is rich: Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, Qatar via Doha, Emirates via Dubai and the European majors via their hubs all sell Tokyo hard.
Since the Russian airspace closures, Europe–Japan non-stops fly longer southern routings, which nudged one-stop Gulf and Istanbul itineraries from “cheaper” to “barely slower” — compare them seriously.
Tokyo's airports
Haneda (HND) is the close-in airport — 30 minutes to the city — and has taken over most premium international traffic. Narita (NRT) is 60–90 minutes out; fares into it sometimes run cheaper for the same airline.
Both airports are impeccably organised; the time saved by Haneda is on the ground, not in the terminal.
When to book, and for how much
Cherry-blossom season (late March–April) and Golden Week price brutally; late autumn is the sweet spot of weather and fares.
Business award seats and paid fares both open early on Japan routes — this is a book-four-months-out market.
